How to install themes on your jailbroken iPhone
All of the themes we feature here at iPhone Theme Gallery require your iPhone to be jailbroken. Currently the themes we feature require an intermediate knowledge of FTP/SSH, as you have to “install” the theme yourself. However, in the future we will try to include more themes that are available in Cydia.
Before you start downloading any of the themes we feature, please ensure the following is available to you on your iPhone and computer:
Steps to prepare your computer and iPhone:
- From your iPhone you will need to ensure that you have enabled SSH, as well as grabbing your WIFI network IP address. To view this you can go into settings, then into wifi. Click on the SSID of your network, and it will show an IP (eg: 192.168.1.103)
- Now you’ll want to open up your SSH app (WinSCP or Cyberduck) and enter in the following values in their appropriate fields
- File Protocol: SCP (WinSCP) or SFTP (Cyberduck)
- Hostname: Your iPhones IP address
- Username: root
- Password: alpine
- You may then press enter to log in, and then you’ll want to answer Yes/Accept for the key prompt.
- Once you have logged in, you will need to navigate to the /root/ folder.
- Then you will navigate to the /library/, then into the /themes/ directory.
- From there you will drag the folder of your theme which has the theme contents, into the /themes/ directory.
- To activate the theme you will need to open up Winterboard, and then look for your theme’s name.
- Once you select your theme, just exit the app and the springboard will restart, and voila, your new theme will be up!
