iTweetReply 1.1 Rejected by Apple
Posted in General by adminiTweetReply is one of the first apps to use iPhone Push notifications to bring Twitter replies and direct messages to your iPhone. We just wrote a quick iTweetReply review and even had the App’s developer – Matthew Lesh chime in on their future plans for this useful app.
I just found out from their blog that Apple has rejected 1.1 version of iTweetReply because it shares similar UI elements to the SMS app. ere is what Apple have said in their rejection email:
Thank you for submitting your application to the App Store. Unfortunately, your application, iTweetReply – Push Twitter Replies and Direct Messages, cannot be added to the App Store because its usage of the standard SMS UI elements may be confusing or misleading to iPhone users. Please redesign your application to look significantly different from the standard iPhone SMS built-in app.
The funny thing is that the iTweetReply interface hasn’t changed since it’s last approved version. Apple has been receiving a lot of flak for its lack of transparency in it’s App approval process.
So, is this latest rejection of an useful app, a result of a decision to crackdown on Apps sharing similar UI to native iPhone apps or just a backlash because of a post explaining the poor App approval process by the developer?
As a good news, iTweetReply 1.1 is set to come soon with interface changes plus the added features that didn’t make it to 1.1.
